LEVGUM is spearheading global change in the rubber recycling industry through its breakthrough technology. LEVGUM‘s mechanical-chemical process is carried out at room temperature, uses a chemical modifier (EDV = Ecological De-Vulcanizer) for the devulcanization of rubber waste. It is an automated process that does not produce or emit any hazardous waste or gases and is 100% environmentally safe. The EDV itself does not contain any harmful chemicals, and its production does not generate any hazardous waste or gases.
LEVGUM’s highly efficient devulcanization process is carried out by adding LEVGUM‘s EDV (about 3% by weight of the rubber to be De-Vulcanized) to vulcanized rubber that is stressed in a two-roller mill for approximately 20 passes. This process breaks down the sulfur cross links that connect the rubber polymer chains in vulcanized rubber. The existing Sulfur atom sites are blocked by residue from LEVGUM’s EDV, preventing spontaneous re-vulcanization. LEVGUM‘s DRC has a proven shelf life of over 4 years.
The superior quality recycled rubber termed DRC, which results from the LEVGUM process, can either be used alone (SILSHEET), or mixed with virgin rubber compounds.
